Vanilla | Choc Mint | Salted Caramel | Lemon | Banana Peanut Butter | Maple Walnut | Half Baked | Chunky Monkey

I’m always encouraging my clients to increase their protein intake—not just for building muscle, but also to stay lean, healthy, and youthful. As a PT and a nutrition coach, I know it matters. That’s why my Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipes are such a winner.

And let’s face it, sometimes I don’t feel like dinner on a hot day, so I skip right to dessert. Have you ever done this? Well, luckily with this dessert you are getting your serving of protein too.

And guess what? NONE of my protein ice cream recipes has sugar in it. Just stevia or monk fruit and sweetness from either good quality clean protein powder like this Organic Grass Fed Whey or natural fruit added to the ice creams.

And just FYI, this is only a part of my Ninja Creami Recipe collection. I have a whole lot more on my main Ninja Creami Hub

Choosing a Good Sugar-Free Sweetener.

I recently started using liquid stevia or monk fruit extract instead of granulated or powdered versions. I found it is so much easier, particularly in the Ninja Creami ice cream recipes. No need to dissolve the grainy granules of the product like I used to.

Stevia is slightly cheaper, and I use NuNaturals Alcohol-free Stevia Extract. I like this one because it has no erythritol added to it, and it’s all natural. However, some people say there is sometimes an aftertaste from stevia, mostly those who are used to regular sugar.

Monk fruit, on the other hand, has a taste of brown sugar, and most of those who have tried it say they can not taste the difference, and there is no aftertaste. It’s slightly more expensive, but since it’s all natural and actually healthy, I don’t mind adding it to my shopping list. I used it for the ice creams I make for my family. I use these natural Monk Fruit drops.

Yes, You Can Make These Protein Ice Cream Recipes Dairy-Free and Plant-Based!

I’ve tested so many dairy-free versions of these Ninja Creami protein ice creams, and almond milk just didn’t cut it—the texture came out too thin and icy no matter how many Re-Spins I did.

Oat milk like Chobani Zero Sugar and oat cream changed everything, though! They create the creamiest, thickest consistency of all the plant-based options I’ve tried—rich and indulgent without any dairy.

Cashew or macadamia milk also works well, as they are creamier than almond. So if you don’t like oat milk, you can give those a try.

It’s super easy to make any of these recipes completely plant-based:

  • Swap full-cream milk for oat milk and heavy cream (if used) for oat cream (check the recipe card variations).

  • Skip the yogurt entirely or use a dairy-free option like coconut yogurt.

  • Replace whey protein powder with a clean plant-based protein powder like this one.

The result? High-protein ice cream that scoops perfectly and tastes just as good as the dairy versions. I make mine this way all the time now for clients who want fully plant-based treats the whole family can enjoy. Give it a try—you’ll be amazed!

And, now, I have a dedicated collection of dairy free Ninja creami recipes, you can check them all here. Although they are not boosted with protein, you can simply use the recipes, remove about 1/4 cup of milk to allow some space for protein powder, and add vegan protein powder. And, BOOM 💥, just like that you’ve got yourself a dairy-free protein ice cream.

Equipment

1 Ninja Creami Ice Cream Machine
1 Blender or immersion blender stick
1 Freezer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full-cream milk or oat milk whole milk gives creamier texture and traditional ice cream feel
  • 1/2 cup full fat cream or oat cream (cooking cream is best here as opposed to whipping cream)
  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt adds creaminess and a bit of tang
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder try using low carb and sugar free option with at least 24g of protein per serving
  • 2 teaspoons granulated monk fruit or stevia sweetener (or 12 drops if using liquid sweetener) (or you can use liquid monk fruit or stevia extract, click on blue text to see on Amazon)
  • 2 tablespoons boiling hot water to dissolve granulated monk fruit or stevia if needed (you don't need it if using liquid sweetener drops)
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • If you are using granulated monk fruit or stevia it is best to first dissolve it in boiling hot water so you don't end up with sandy textrue of undissolved sweetener. If using liquid monk fruit or stevia then you don't need to worry just drop the disired amount into the pint container. 2 teaspoons granulated monk fruit or stevia sweetener (or 12 drops if using liquid sweetener)
  • Blend the full-cream milk, cream, Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, dissolved sweetener and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy using a blender or immersion blender. If using immersion (stick) blender, you can blend directly in the pint container.
  • Pour the ice cream base into your Ninja Creami pint container, making sure not to exceed the max fill line.
  • Seal the pint container with an airtight lid and freeze on a level surface for at least 24 hours until completely solid to create a good solid base.
  • Place the frozen pint container into your Ninja Creami machine and process using the “Ice Cream” setting (one-touch program).
  • After the first spin, check the texture. If it’s crumbly or too icy, add a splash of full-cream milk and run the Re-Spin cycle until you achieve a creamy consistency.
  • Optionally, create a small hole in the center of the ice cream and add your favorite mix-ins like sugar-free chocolate chips or chopped nuts. Use the Mix-In function to incorporate.
  • Serve immediately for the best creamy texture or store in an airtight container in the freezer for later.

Notes

Tip: the leftovers may go a bit hard again in the freezer. If that happens, pop the pint into the microwave for about 15 seconds to soften it a bit. Do not re-spin when the container is not full, it could break the machine.
Note: calories and macros are based on the whole milk being used. If using alternative milk the macros may change.

About these Protein Ninja Creami Flavors

While I’ve shared one main protein vanilla recipe above, the flavors below are written as individual recipes, not simple add-ins. Protein ice cream ingredients vary in volume and ratios depending on the flavor, and many combinations would overflow the pint if built on a single base. Each recipe below is formulated on its own to ensure the best texture, flavor, and Creami performance.

And Here Are 7 More Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream Flavors You Can Try (The Half Baked One Is My Fave)

Here are my favorite Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipes that I want to share with you. Some of them have a vanilla base like the half baked one and lemon cheesecake for example. And some are completely different flavors all together. Recipe for each flavor is below. Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below which one you are going to try first and share your feedback once you’ve tried it. I’d love to hear from you.

Important: Save Your Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker from Getting Damaged

Do not use the Ninja Crami machine to re-spin the leftovers if the container is not at it’s max fill line. The ice cream level will be too low for the blade to reach properly, and it could damage the machine. Only use the machine when the pint container is filled to the max fill line or close to it.

Instead, take out the leftovers or half-full container from the freezer 10 minutes before serving (I know, I know, I don’t like waiting either), but it will help the ice cream soften naturally and you will not need to break your machine. Or you can put the pint container with the leftover ice cream into the microwave for about 15 seconds, if you are impatient like me.

Tips for Making the Best Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

  • These recipes work best when blended for 5-10 minutes until smooth, processed with your Ninja Creami machine using the ice cream base setting, and allowed to harden into solid bases before the first spin.

  • If you find the ice cream a bit crumbly after the first spin, a splash of milk and an extra spin will help bring back that creamy texture we all crave.

  • For those who love varieties beyond soft serve or lite ice cream, mixing in ingredients at the center of the ice cream after the first spin using the mix-in function creates a professional, restaurant-quality finish.

  • Choose protein powders from the Ninja Creami community favorites that focus on clean ingredients with less sugar and no artificial additives, guaranteeing a healthier option for your family and fitness goals.

I hope these Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipes inspire you to experiment and enjoy a creamy vanilla base that’s as flexible as your favorite protein shake. All these recipes fit into clean eating and active living lifestyle—and they show that meeting your protein intake goals can be delicious and satisfying with the click of a button and a few smart ingredients in your pint container.
