Hey! I’m Meredith. Welcome to Earth & Oven.
A place where “damn that’s goooood” and “you’re glowing girl” meet somewhere in the middle.
You’re in the right place if:
You wake up dreaming about what to put on your toast (Jam and almond butter or honey and ricotta!?)
You salivate over a massaged kale salad, but definitely don’t scorn yourself for swinging by the drive-through to get a 99 cent soft serve.
You’re kinda over being shamed by the health coaches of the internet telling you what rules to follow to reach 130 lb perfection.
Earth & Oven is on a mission to spread body positivity, self-love and eating delicious food for happiness and health.
…And if you’re like me, sometimes that mission includes thick cut double smoked bacon in your salad or a generous slice of sourdough toast with salted butter and honey.
Things I’m down with:
- Eating without labels
- Loving myself
- Keeping an open mind
- Celebrating everyday life with food
- Tahini and Maldon Salt on most things
- Dessert every day (my last meal would be a chocolate chip cookie)
How did I get here?
My health journey started at 12 when I realized I wasn’t skinny like the other girls. Enter the food restriction, low self-esteem and disordered eating for the next 15 years of my life.
In my early 20’s I got pretty damn tired of drinking Diet Coke for dessert, and coupled with my curiosity for cooking, I started diving deep into the internet researching nutrition.
After graduating from nutrition school, you might think I had reached my health peak. Sure, I was mixing up spirulina overnight oats every day and snacking on carrots and cashew cheese. But the low self-worth and disordered eating habits were still controlling my every move. Years as a vegan, calorie counting, cutting carbs, high protein, intermittent fasting, paleo, keto and fruitarianism – I’ve tried it. And it didn’t make me a happier or healthier person.
After hitting a major low with my mental health, I am grateful to be on the other side, eating intuitively and what brings me the most joy. Armed with 4 years of professional recipe development and experience hands-on with nutrition clients (and myself!) I aim to help you enjoy cooking and eating a little more too.
I hope you are inspired by not only the food but the message behind Earth & Oven.
XO.
