Immunity Shots Recipe

Simple recipe that you can have every day to boost your immune system during flu season or all year round. Yes, you can prepare them for a couple of days ahead and store in the fridge.
Prep Time 8 minutes
Servings 6 shots

Ingredients

  • 1 inch fresh ginger root peeled (or organic ginger root for best results)
  • 1 medium fresh lemon peeled
  • 2 organic oranges peeled (or 1 cup orange juice)
  • 1 golden kiwi fruit peeled
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of honey Manuka is best, but regular honey is ok, too; you can skip this if you want to keep it plant-based
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional – just a pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup coconut water add more for desired consistency

Instructions

  • Gather all your fresh ingredients. Wash and peel the ginger, lemon, oranges, and kiwi.
  • Add all ingredients to your blender. Start with the coconut water at the bottom.
  • Blend until completely smooth. This may take a minute or two.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve. A nut milk bag also works well. This removes pulp for a smoother shot.
  • Add the honey to the strained juice.
  • Pour the strained juice into small bottles. I like to use glass bottles.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them in ice cube trays!
  • Drink one shot daily for immune support.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more honey, golden kiwi, or oranges.
  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of black pepper (addition of black pepper helps with absorption of curcumin).
  • If you don’t have fresh ginger, use 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric.
  • If you don’t have fresh pineapple, use 1/2 cup of pineapple juice.
  • Surprise tip: Don’t throw away the pulp! Add it to a stir-fry for extra flavor and nutrients.
